Junior Academy

The aim of the TGRSA Motorsport Development Programme is to grow the participation of minority groups in South African motorsport, by finding, nurturing, and developing both new and existing talent. Ultimately, the drivers that complete this development programme will be suitable candidates for inclusion in TGRSA’s various racing programmes, and they may progress to the global stage in due course. We are searching for the next Giniel De Villiers or Leeroy Poulter and are hoping to develop them into the next best thing. The programme is headed by Leeroy poulter a South African rally champion and the Owner of the extreme racing team and we aim to launch the "Toyota SA GR Academy" in partnership with XTREME RACING

REAGILE “Spice” MAILULA (Mini max)

Reagile’s racing interest was sparked when invited to a birthday party celebration at an indoor karting circuit at the of age 6 years. The young karter was introduced to 4-stroke amateur karting on the 14th of June 2018 at the age of 7 years 3 months, by his Uncle Godfrey Malumane at the Vereeniging Karting Circuit. At the age of 8 he began his professional racing in the 2-stroke kart series. Having impressed the organizers of the championship in his first season of racing, Reagile “Spice” was afforded an opportunity to participate and fly the SA Flag at the prestigious 2-week Autumn Trophy Finale in Italy Lonato in October 2019, with that being his first international race trip. He bagged himself a third position podium. Due to his outstanding performance in Italy - Lonato, he was further invited in the same year in December 2019 in Napoli to participate at the 24th “Aryton Senna” Trophy where he also did not disappoint and bagged himself another podium finishing 3rd.  In February 2020 he was named SA Brand Ambassador for Kimoa – a Spanish clothing and accessories brand founded by Spanish Formula One driver Fernando Alonso.

Driver #211
2020, when I was 14 years old, and I began racing in the Rotax Junior Max class as part of the Xtreme Racing Team. Under the guidance of Leeroy Poulter, I quickly developed a strong passion for the sport. However, due to the Pandemic, 2020 was not the best year to start; I also experienced obstacles in 2020 and wasn't quite on track. Then, as soon as 2021 arrived, I'd notice a lot of positive things heading my way. That year, I won races, placed on podiums, and finished second in the RKC Championship and fourth in the National Championship. And I'm excited to see what 2022 has in store.

Driver #468
Klayden Cole (KC) is an outgoing and bubbly 13 year old boy. He started his motorsport journey when he was just five years old, when he took to a Moto Cross bike for the first time. A year later, he tried his hand at karting and began to race in the 50cc Cadet class. KC took to the kart like a duck to water and showed a tremendous aptitude for the sport and even began to challenge for podiums and race wins. His first taste of victory came in 2016 when he finished 4th in both the Club and Regional Cadet championships. After this, KC was determined to race Nationally and made the move to Maxterino in 2017. He won the Club championship that year. KC continued to hone his skills and won his first South African title in 2020. KC has, in his short career, already had the opportunity to represent South Africa three times, once at the Rotax Grand Final and twice at the Rok Cup Super Final.

Driver #16
Started karting in February 2020 at the age of 14 in the Rotax, Junior Max Category under the guidance and coaching of Leeroy Poulter. 2020 proved to be a challenging year to start a career in racing due to Covid 19 and the lockdown restrictions. I started the season with little to no experience. It was a hard task to accomplish even trying to be competitive being up against drivers with years of both national and international experience. I achieved beyond my goals for my first season with a 2nd place overall in my region and 6th place overall national.

EMMA DOWLING (Micro max)

Driver #623
Emma is a vivacious young lady with loads of enthusiasm, hardworking demeanor, friendly, kind and a huge zest for life. Her competitive nature sets her aside from all the rest ensuring that she never gives up. She has always stuck out especially being able to compete and thrive in difficult activities against kids that are older than her and even in sports such as karting which is mostly male dominated. Her initial interest in the sport started with her grandfather who raced for many years when he was younger and took her to the track to watch him in an endurance race at Zwartkops raceway. Emma has been racing for two years now and started off in 4-stroke amateur karting at Vereeniging karting track since august 2020 but she quickly realized she had a passion for this sport and a will to race and compete even if she was the only girl. She then started 2-stroke Rota racing in Micromax in March 2021 where she experienced what racing was really all about but within 8 months and with the guidance and encouragement of Leroy and the Xtreme team she started showing that she meant business and that she was a force to be recognized and considered amongst her fellow racers (boys). Her achievements so far in such a short time of racing include: RKC club championships 2021 - 9th place out of 19 racers. Rotax micro max Gauteng regional championships 2021 - 7th place out of 24 racers.
